  • 1 kg fresh crab (cleaned and cracked)

  • 1 medium onion (finely sliced)

  • 1 green chilli (slit, optional)

How to Make Sri Lankan Crab Curry

Step 1: Prepare the Base

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, and pandan leaf. Sauté until the onions turn soft and lightly golden, releasing a fragrant aroma.

Step 2: Add the Crab

Add the cleaned crab pieces to the pan and stir well for 2–3 minutes, allowing the crab to absorb the flavours of the aromatics.

Step 3: Add Larich Crab Curry Mix

get of Larich Crab Curry Mix into the pan. Mix thoroughly so the spices coat the crab evenly. This step is key to achieving the authentic Sri Lankan flavour.

Step 4: Simmer the Curry

Add water and bring the curry to a gentle boil. Cover and simmer for 15–20 minutes until the crab is fully cooked and the curry thickens.

Step 5: Finish with Coconut Milk

Reduce heat and pour in the coconut milk. Simmer gently for another 5 minutes without boiling. Adjust salt if needed and turn off the heat.

Step 6: Serve

Serve hot with steamed rice, string hoppers, or roti. Add a squeeze of lime juice if desired.
